BANTERFEST 2023 : 15TH – 17TH SEPTEMBER.

CHECK OUT OUR LINEUP!!

The first BanterFest in September 2022 was such a blast we’ve decided to do it all again. A new, shiny, boutique festival in Welbourn, in the heart of Lincolnshire. All our artists have now been booked and our 2nd BanterFest will be taking place on 15th – 17th September 2023.

We are delighted to say that BanterFest 2023 is now SOLD OUT, but we are managing a waiting list for any returned tickets. If you have already purchased tickets and cannot attend we would be grateful if you would let us know so that we can issue a full refund to you and make your tickets available to those who are on the list. If you want us to add you to the waiting list, please see below..

“It’s reckoned that about 40 people saw the Sex Pistols in Manchester Free Trade Hall in June 1976 ….. but thousands of punks claim to have been there. I’m told millions of American rockers similarly claim to have been among the 500,000 at Woodstock in August 1969. Banterfest was such a cracking festival that it’s just possible that, ten years from now, thousands of folkies will claim to have been at Welbourn in September 2022.”

WELCOME

“Featuring percussion, trumpet, Melodeon and keyboards. Banter are an infectious, genre hopping trio mixing Morris tunes, soulful vocals and raucous chorus songs into a concert to ceilidh headliner”

– Steve Knightley (Show Of Hands)

“Banter have opened a new chapter with their exciting take on basically English dance music”

–  Ashley Hutchings

“A splendid disregard for musical boundaries, but with a respect for English traditional music”

– Songlines Magazine – 4 star review

“Think Bob Cann meets La Bottine Souriante and you might be getting somewhere close”

– John Spiers (Spiers Boden, Peter Knight’s Gigspanner, Bellowhead)

“…Imaginative combination of musical styles and inventive playing…”

– Joe Grint (FATEA Magazine)

OUR LATEST ALBUM

“Banter are a continuing problem for me. As they grow stronger and more confident in their unique voice, I still don’t know which I prefer: the effortless, irresistible danciness of it all, the lightest touch disguising the strongest pulse; or the strange beauty of the songs – all quirkiness and silk. Both these elements are reinforced on the (extremely well recorded) new waxing – so you can share my dilemma yourselves”

– Simon Nicol (Fairport Convention)

“This album is brilliant.. still a top notch ceilidh band – now a serious concert band. If you didn’t know it was a trio you wouldn’t believe it. A game changer!”

– Saul Rose (Eliza Carthy Wayward Band, Faustus, Whapweasel)
